To all of Citizen and Miyano dealers and customers

We would like to offer our deepest sympathies to all those affected by the earthquake and Tsunami that occurred on March 11, 2011 in the North East region of Japan. We, Japanese, shall unite to overcome this severe situation caused by this natural disaster. Meanwhile, we wish to express our gratitude for having received many messages of consolation, support and encouragement from our customers and dealers as well as affiliated companies abroad.

There was no damage to Citizen’s Karuizawa factory and Tokorozawa office. On the other hand, the Fukushima facility of Miyano was badly damaged since the earthquake occurrence point was nearby and the Kitakami factory was also slightly damaged. However, we are glad to inform you that no injury to the personnel of Citizen Machinery and Miyano has been reported.

In the case of Citizen Cincom products, there are no significant negative effects other than outsourced parts from the affected area may be difficult to obtain thus our production could be slightly delayed. For the solution, we have already started to seek alternative parts from other suppliers.

In the case of Miyano side, Fukushima plant is restarting, Electrical power line, PC server, telephone line returns to normal, however spindle production area and spare parts stock yard area had partly damage due to falling of ceiling, but they are not so critical damage which we can recover soon. Kitakami plant also returns power line, but found parts production machinery may take time to recover and machine production is restarted taking staff’s safety precautions. We will do our best to bring back production line to normal routine with uniting all Miyano staff. As for spare parts, the daily handling job will partly be started from next week and we believe that actual spare parts delivery also restart before long.

We, Citizen and Miyano as a single company are trying to make the best effort to overcome the situation and it would be very much appreciated if you can understand our position.
